Celebrate Lit: The Elnora Monet

When Carly Mulligan makes a vet call to the Belshaw Mansion to care for the richest cat on Elnora Island, she is unimpressed by the feline’s arrogant owner, Jean-Luc. However, after stumbling upon his secret art studio in a neglected wing of the mansion, Carly wonders if there is more to Luc’s story than she previously assumed.

Luc is a billionaire who seems to have everything a man could want. In reality he would trade all the riches in the world to have the love of his life returned to him. Will meeting Carly remind him to see the beauty still remaining in his life?

The Elnora Monet is a billionaire romance with a twist. Although Luc is the heir to his father’s company and fortune, his real passion used to be art, before the death of his wife. Like Claude Monet, he painted outdoor landscapes, and was fascinated with how the light changed the appearance of objects. Chasing the sunrise or sunset was his favorite pastime, hoping he’d have enough time to paint the beauty of the changing light.

Writing about Jean-Luc was intriguing for me, because art has always been something I enjoy. Whenever, there is a beautiful sunset I also remember what an extraordinary artist God is. Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftmanship.” Looking at His creation reminds me how much care and thought he put into everything he made, including us.

My grandpa told me a story from his childhood once I’ll never forget. He would often go outside to go for walks and enjoy nature. On one of his walks, he brought a magnifying glass with him and stopped to examine a leaf up close. The sun beamed onto the leaf as he looked at it through the glass. Every cell in the leaf glowed, bursting with color and life. He said if one leaf could be so intricate and beautiful, imagine how much care and thought God put into creating us. It was a moment that strengthened his faith and stayed with him for a long time.

Similar to Jean-Luc in the story, my grandpa saw the world through the eyes of an artist. He appreciated the small joys and beauties in life. I hope The Elnora Monet inspires others to live this way as well.
