February is the month for romantic adventures, whether in real life or in fiction. Because I live in Wyoming, romantic adventures in February usually involve some kind of winter activity. Each winter, my husband and I try to get away at least once to Chico Hot Springs, located between Livingston, Montana and the North Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Depending on the level of snow, there are opportunities in the area to go cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and day trips into the park. If you prefer a warmer experience, utilize the hot springs and spa at the resort. Chico Hot Springs also provides an exceptional fine-dining dinner experience. As far as romance in fiction, even if a novel isn’t billed as romance, most adventure, mystery, or suspense novels contain some degree of romance. There is no bigger motivator to make characters do exceptional, crazy, stupid, heroic, or courageous things than love. I don’t consider myself a romance writer, but you will find it in all of my novels. Nothing can form a stronger, more lasting bond between two people and facilitate true love than shared adventures, tragedies, or stories of survival.
So, this Valentine’s Day, if you can’t get out and experience a romantic adventure, do the next best thing and pick up a novel and enjoy stories of adventure and romance in the most unlikely places.
