Snow crystals are ice and therefore they are clear.  However, when they reach the ground and the sun hits them, the way the light is reflected to the human eye they seem to be white. This is the white we see that blankets the earth on snowy days.  There is an amazing truth in this.  God sees all; He knows all.  We are transparent to Him.  He knows us with all our flaws and faults and yet He still loves us!  While we were yet sinners He sent Christ to die for us.  Yes, He loved us so much, He sent Jesus, His precious Son to be that propitiation for sin.  And when we are in Christ, born-again and washed in the precious blood of Jesus, He sees us as “white as snow.”

The beauty and individuality of each snow crystal is made by the conditions (wind and temperature) it meets when it leaves the cloud and makes its way to earth.  God has the same plan in our lives.  The conditions we meet in this life and how we handle them will shape who we become.  We will face “winds of adversity” just as a snow crystal does.  We have a choice whether or not to trust God in the midst of the winds.  We have a choice to let God change us, bringing beauty or to become embittered by life. In 1st Peter 1 we are told, “Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, ye have been put to grief in manifold trials, that the proof of your faith, [being] more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ:”   God’s ultimate desire is that we become more like His Son so that we will reflect His beauty to a lost and dying world.

Yes, like each snowflake, you are one of a kind, special beyond measure and so beautiful to God.  Beautifully individual with a complexity of your very own; chosen by God to fulfill a divine purpose that He has ordained you to walk in if you will let Him be Lord in your life.
