Shenandoah Dreams by Lisa Belcastro
From a YA POV...
Schoolteacher Melissa Smith was content in Martha’s Vineyard. She had just gotten her life under control, after having it turned upside down by her husband. While chaperoning for the annual elementary school sailing trip she started having inexplicable dreams while sleeping in cabin 8. One day, she finds that her dreams of the 18th century have suddenly become something from which she can’t wake. She has to know if she is simply stuck in her own dream world, or if she has indeed become a reluctant time traveler. When she starts to fall in love with the Shenandoah’s ship captain, Isaiah, in the year 1770 she fears that the “dream” may end, and she will wake to find herself in the 21st century again.
Shenandoah Dreams is the third in the Winds of Change series, about the Shenandoah, an 18th century ship and the mysterious powers of its Cabin 8.
Shenandoah Dreams is a unique novel, chock-full of historical facts, romance, and mystery. I enjoyed how much the main character, Melissa, relied on God and prayed to Him about her situation. Author Lisa Belcastro wrote a great novel, and I’m excited to start reading more in the series!
