B Book Reviews

She's Mine by Tammy Doherty

Reviewed by Deena Peterson

I received an advance copy of "She's Mine" in exchange for an honest review.  My copy arrived late yesterday, and I like to take a quick peek at the books I'm reviewing to get a feel for the story.

Around 2 am, I had finished my sneak peek.  Actually, I had finished the book.  "She's Mine" grabbed my attention from the opening chapter and held me fascinated until the final page.  Twists, turns, and shocking surprises kept me turning 'just one more page' until the satisfying conclusion.

Be warned: you won't feel as if you're reading a novel about fictional characters.  It will read like a true life tale, a tale of terror, rejection, misunderstanding and ultimate healing.  Caitlin is a sympathetic heroine and she comes to life, encouraging you to believe in her even when her life seems unbelievable.

Sean is the perfect hero, but far from perfect.  It's his imperfection that draws Caitlin toward him, and will draw you into the story.  "She's Mine" is filled with engaging characters and reads at a rapid and even pace.  No dull spots in the book!  But good luck having time to catch your breath before the next event hits.

My thanks to my friends at TWJ Magazine for my opportunity to read "She's Mine".  Highly recommended.

Caitlin Harrington has a new job and a new life away from her menacing ex-boyfriend, Adam. She swore to never marry and dating Adam confirms what she's always suspected: she’s a lousy judge of character and men just can’t be trusted. Now a volunteer firefighter who has come to her rescue more than once is dangerously close to breaking through her defenses.

YOU DON’T BELONG HERE

Not everyone in sleepy Naultag, Massachusetts is welcoming. Someone is leaving ominous notes on Caitlin's door.

Volunteer firefighter Sean Taggart likes being a rescuer. But a failed engagement has taught him to be cautious with his heart and Caitlin is a threat. Women just can’t be trusted. Still, he’d like to save Caitlin from whatever demons have her so spooked. If only she’d let him.

Threatening notes. A shadowy figure lurking in her yard. Caitlin must tell the police about Adam, but everything he told her was a lie. Who is Adam? And if Caitlin trusts Sean to protect her, will his life be in danger?

Can Sean rescue Caitlin before the stalker becomes a killer?
