M Michele's Musings

Will You Rise

During our Sunday school class a few months ago, Ms. Florence, a classmate told us about corn plants.  She said that when a storm or a hard rain comes the corn plants are beaten down to the ground.  They lay there flat and drenched on the ground.  It seems as if the hard rains and storms have beaten the life from the plant.  But the next morning when the sun comes up and arises in the East the corn plants also begin to lift up from the ground.  They slowly rise, coming to life and standing straight up in the air yet again.  The corn plants stand tall and lift their leaves to the sun as if in praise to the sun.  The sun has brought life giving light, new life and refreshment to the plant.  Eventually, the plants bring forth a corn crop no matter how many rains have come to beat them down.

There is a perfect parallel to this story in our walk with Christ the Son of God.  When life beats us down we often are left immobilized and crushed.  It seems as if we cannot lift our heads or face another tomorrow. It seems as if life is not worth living. We feel that life is too hard and that we will never see the light of day.  We lay there in our hurt, depression, self-pity, sorrow and mourning; bruised and battered by the circumstances of life.  The rain has come and it has taken from us the will to rise and to be what God has called us to be.

But God is forever faithful.  He sees our need.  It is at this time that we need to trust Him with all our hearts.  We need to lift our lives to the Son. We must stand up and praise Him.  He says in His word to Praise Him in all things.  IN ALL THINGS we are to trust Him. As we trust Him, as we praise Him, as we give our lives to Him, He will come and bring light in our lives.  He will give us hope.  He will give us refreshing.  He will give us new life.  He will restore and rebuild.  What the enemy has meant for evil, God has meant for good and He will turn it around.  But we must trust.  We too, will bring forth our fruit but we must learn to turn to Him when the storms of this life come.  We must trust Him when the rains come.  We must learn to praise and trust God in the midst of our circumstances whatever they may be.

Life will bring the bad with the good.  We live in a sinful world full of woe. It will not be perfect until Christ comes to rule forever.  Until then we will experience storms that try to take everything from us. Jesus is our hope and we must turn to Him.  Remember God has allowed those things to touch us in His love and sovereignty for us.  Romans 8:28-29 says He works all things for good and for the purpose that we might be conformed to the image of His Son Jesus Christ.    It is in the trials that life brings that we need to learn to praise Him.  Praise Him for who He is; praise Him for His faithfulness; praise Him for His love. Praise Him for His wisdom; praise Him for His beauty; praise Him for His glory. Praise Him for His trustworthiness; praise Him for His provision; Praise Him for His help. The list goes on and on.   Like the corn plants lift their leaves to the sun time and time again, we must do the same. We must lift our lives to the Son and trust Him.

The corn plant does not stay on the ground and say, "I'm not getting up!  The last time I got up the rains just came and beat me down again.  No way! I don’t trust the sun anymore."  But we are guilty of that, aren't we?  We quit.  We say "God, you failed me.  Jesus, you failed me.  I can't trust again."  We lie down and give up the fight.  Paul said we must fight the good fight and finish the race.  We must run the race in order to win the prize.      Be like the corn plants.  They lift their leaves every morning to the sun no matter what happened the day or night before.  Lift up your lives to the Son, to the only life giver there is.  He deserves our praise. He is always completely faithful. He keeps His Word to us. He keeps His promises. He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. He is the faithful God and there is no one else beside Him. He is our Lord. He is our King. He is our Father. He is our Friend. He is our Teacher. He is our Master. He is our faithful Shepherd. He is the Lover of our Soul. He is our Redeemer. He is our Saviour. He is our Hope. He is our Glory. He is our Refuge. He is our Shield. He is our Buckler. He is our High Tower. He is our Ever Present Help. He is the Glory and the Lifter of our heads. He is the Great I AM.

Rains will come; storms will come; life will bring terrible things. But, remember God is faithful. He is always there just like the sun.  He never leaves us or forsakes us, NEVER.  Praise Him, worship Him, Trust Him and He will honor it.  He will bring His Word to pass in your life.

You, yes, You, are so Very Special to Him and He loves you with All of His heart. He loves you with an Everlasting Love. You are His, paid with an awesome Price by His Beloved Son, His Beautiful, Beautiful Son, Jesus Christ.

He is gracious, and full of Compassion, and righteous.
