We Need Not Fear But Hope

It seems as if the Coronavirus has the entire world wrapped within its destructive forces.  My heart has been burdened for those caught within its evil clutches.  One of the most concerning affects seems to be the fear that it brings into the hearts of men and women everywhere.  Even more so, I am disturbed that even the children of God, Christians, those of us redeemed by the precious blood of Christ seem to have been bitten by the bug of fear.  The fear is all over the spectrum and ranges from getting sick to loss of provision.  And, it is  understandable given the difficult days we find ourselves in.  However, as children of God we are admonished to not live in fear.  As Christians we are to trust God in every area.  We have multitudes of amazing promises from God in His word.  He is our provider, protector and healer.  Most of all, He is faithful and true so we need not be afraid.

God has provided a battle plan.  We must ready ourselves, girding up with the whole armor of God. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”  Ephesians 6:10-18

We must remember and trust God’s word every day. When negative thoughts come, they are not from God and we must counter them with His word.  We are in a battle and we must not lie down and believe lies.  Remember, you are NOT alone!  God is with you.  God loves you.  He will never leave you nor forsake you.  It is okay to cry and it is alright to be sad; but, hopelessness is not okay.  Feelings of hopelessness will endeavor to enter our hearts, minds and try to overwhelm us.  However, we must learn to cry out and pour our hearts out to God.  He is the great comforter and giver of hope.  When we have no more tears and think we have no more strength, we must keep holding on to Him – We mustn’t ever let go!!!  We may be in a wilderness of uncertainty and bareness but remember God sometimes leads us there so that we can begin to know Him in a greater and more intimate way.

"Therefore I am now going to allure her;

I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her.

There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope.

There she will sing as in the days of her youth,

as in the day she came up out of Egypt.

"In that day," declares the LORD,

"you will call me 'my husband'; you will no longer call me 'my master.’”

                                                                                                    Hosea 2: 14-16

God is most likely answering prayers that we have all cried out for but His ways are not our ways.  Often, we don’t understand why He leads us in certain ways, why He allows certain things or does not take us out of certain situations.  Sometimes He leads us through the barren, broken places so that He can heal us and teach us to trust Him.  If Jesus, as a man, yet the perfect Son of God, had to learn obedience from His suffering, how much more do we need to learn obedience?

One of my favorite scripture passages in the Bible is about the woman with the issue of blood.  She pressed through everyone and every obstacle just to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment.  Be like that woman and press through to God, dearly beloved of God!  Don’t let the enemy lie to you and deceive you.  And when you get there don’t ever let go of God!   GOD WANTS RELATIONSHIP – INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP – HE WANTS TO BE EVERYTHING TO YOU – THE LOVER OF YOUR SOUL – YOUR FRIEND – YOUR COMFORTER – THE GLORY AND LIFTER OF YOUR HEAD!  GOD LOVES YOU – GOD WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU – YOU ARE NOT ALONE – HE IS WITH YOU EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!  There is light at the end of every trial and tribulation.  “This too shall pass.”   Jesus has made a covenant with you.  He says throughout His word that He has made Covenant with us and that He will not break that Covenant.   He is able to save all those that come to Him through Jesus as Hebrews 7:25-26 tells us, “Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such a high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.”  You have a High Priest named Jesus Christ praying for you.  Just imagine; the most precious Son of God CONTINUALLY MAKES INTERCESSION FOR YOU ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!  How awesome is that?  Remember God is on your side.  His Son, Jesus, paid the ultimate price for you.  Jesus sits at the right hand of God making unceasing intercession for you.  God fights for His children.  You are His most special you in all the world!  Beautiful, precious, sweet, you; You belong to Him.  Take His hand, walk with Him, trust His faithfulness to His word.  Hold on and don’t ever let go no matter how great the battle seems.  God is greater.  All we have to do is curl up in His lap of love and snuggle ourselves into His presence, His protection, His word, His peace, His glory and let our heart trust Him.

Ultimately, God has the last say.  He has the last word.  He has a plan and a purpose.  We can be assured that “All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:28-29  Yes, beloved of God, He is working ALL things together for your good, He is making you into what you ought to be even if you don’t understand or like what you are walking through.  We need not fear any sickness nor disease.  We need not fear for what we will wear, eat or where we will lay our head because God will take care of us.  It is His promise to His children, His beloved, you and I.

Love in Christ, Michele
