P Power of Positive Faith

Are You Committed?

CommitI love the scripture in Proverbs 16:3 where it says “Commit your ways unto the Lord and He will make your plans succeed.”

The more I think about this scripture, the more I think about why it appeals to me so much. For one, I think it’s because the word “succeed” is in it. Well, I am being honest.

I want to be successful in everything I do; don’t you? Of course you do. As humans, we don’t like failure. Many of us have come to embrace it and we tell ourselves and tell others that failure is something to be embraced and not something to shy away from. We say that failure is inevitable, almost to cushion ourselves for the time when we finally run up against it. Many have learned how to bounce back from failure and how to take the mistakes made and turn them into something useful so that they aren’t made a second time. Then you have those who feel that they will always fail and never experience any successes. You see, some folks have been raised not to pursue success because something is wrong with the person who seeks it out. They are told that this kind of person is too materialistic, too money-hunger, and too “me” focused.

The questions that one can ask are which am I? Do I seek success? Do I fear failure?

Throughout scripture you can see that God does not have a problem with success and it is refreshing to know that being successful is all right with God.

However, the phrase “Commit to Him”---precedes ---“He will make your plans succeed.”

He wants something from us. He asks that we commit everything to Him. You see if we love Him, we trust Him with more than the spiritual, we trust Him with the physical, mental and emotional things too. When we take our dreams and turn them into goals, He will bless them to succeed.

What are your plans? What are your goals? I have had many and still have more to achieve. What I have to do is to make sure that I do my part in seeking Him first and committing everything to Him. Not just the hard stuff, but also everything.

That’s easier said than done, but it can be done. Are you committed to trying?
