P Power of Positive Faith

You Don’t Have to be Wonder Woman!

I have secretly thought of myself as Wonder Woman, taking on each challenge, without fear or trepidation. I just push through.  I work out each day; I run 6 miles and elliptical five. I do strength training and I can mow a lawn. I can paint, tear down wallpaper and put up backsplash. I can plant a garden and move large bulky rocks.

Although I can do all these things, I know when enough is enough, so I go to my private quiet place to be alone.  When I am not deep in that time of rejuvenation, I find myself right back at it, busy again.

Do you ever feel this way? Do you feel like you just have to take on every challenge and never give yourself a break?

Listen to what Matthew 11:28 says, “Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."

This is the beauty of knowing the scriptures. That’s the strength and power that comes from them.  Weariness comes in many flavors. One might think of being physically tired, but weariness can mean that you are mentally and emotionally tired also.  We get weary from all sorts of things. Weariness can come from being discouraged, feeling depressed or disappointed or disillusioned.  Any of these can cause mental and emotional anxiety.

If this is you, let me tell you that Jesus offers us rest.

We don’t have to do it all.  We don’t have to even do 1/4th of it. He is willing to take on whatever we are trying to take on ourselves. You don't have to be Wonder Woman.

There is nothing wrong with being busy, trying to succeed, trying to win, or trying to build a legacy. What is wrong is when we take on too much of anything. For me, it could be various projects. To you, it could be that you take on the attitudes or actions of others. They don’t talk to you, or they talk about you.  The people you thought supported you, don’t . The ones you supported don’t appreciate you. You do more and more and feel as if you are accomplishing nothing. You have goals, but they seem to be always out of reach.

All of these things can cause you to feel overwhelmed, underappreciated, tired of trying and exhausted from always doing.  You may feel like throwing your hands in the air and giving up.

Wait!  Don’t! God has not given up on you.  Jesus still says to you right now, today, if you are tired, disillusioned, discouraged, frustrated, angry, broken-hearted, whatever you are feeling, give it to Me.  “I” will carry those emotions you feel , for you, and “I” will lead you by the still Waters and “I” He says, will restore you.  You don’t have to struggle to be, you are. You don’t have to fight for any thing, I own the cattle on the hills.  Just turn your attention to Me; focus on Me, and I will give you peace that pass your understanding.

Look, you don’t have to be Wonder Woman. You just have to be a Spirit-filled Woman, who trusts God in all things. A woman who has learned that in all things, you are more than a conqueror.

Others may doubt your abilities. You may doubt them too. However “I” don’t. That’s what God is saying to you. Believe Him.
