P Power of Positive Faith

Choose Faith

I do a series on YouTube titled “5 Tips to Living a Happy & Successful Life”.  The very first tip is Positive Faith.  There is a reason I have coined the phrase “positive faith”. Positive faith is the belief in the seemingly impossible; you know the stuff the naysayers tell you that you cannot achieve.  I have always said that one cannot possibly have faith and fear at the same time. These two cannot co-exist.

As a Christian, faith is a big part of what we believe; our lives are grounded in it. Nevertheless, exercising faith is so hard to do at times. Yet we try to have faith when we face bad situations and we desperately try to “keep the faith” when things are falling apart around us.  However, for some reason, many times we experience just the opposite, fear.  Fear seems to be the most natural response in our stressful situations.

Because we are humans and descendants of Adam and Eve, I believe that we are wired to default to fear because of their sins in the garden. To become afraid rather than to stand up and say, I have faith that this will all work out; that there is a divine reason for what’s happening; to decide that things will be okay regardless of how the circumstances look or what the outcome will be, takes courage, strength and choice.  Unbelievably, many simply rather fear the other shoe dropping rather than to look for the rainbow. Let’s face it, it’s easy to move toward a fearful and frightful attitude rather than put on faith and optimism.

I, like you, experience my moments of fear, but I work hard to embrace faith. When I begin to feel fear, I try to move away from it as soon as I notice that I am experiencing that emotion. Too many times people do just the opposite; they default to fear.

Have you ever noticed that when you experience fear, you will not do the things you want to do? Like make a career move, go and get that degree, write that book, pursue a relationship or do anything that you have dreamed of doing.  That is because fear paralyzes you.

So, how do you embrace faith? How do you learn to move out of the fear zone? How do you grow? First, stop listening to others. Even stop listening to Christians with limited faith. I am always amazed to see so many defeated Christians. Now, start listening to God. Regardless of what we face in life, we are told many times over in the scriptures that we are not to fear.

I know that we will all experience fear at some point, but we should not wear it daily.   Stop fear by developing faith and remember, Matthew 14:30-31 says: "But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me." Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

So do not fear. Trust God and let Him fill you up with the faith you need to not simply survive but to thrive.
