P Power of Positive Faith

Small People...

I have always wondered why we put so much weight into the opinions of others. I believe that from our very beginnings, we were given special gifts with a unique purpose. I believe that God put dreams into each of our hearts when we were young children and, as children, we believed in those dreams. As we grew older, we would probably say something about what we dreamed of doing or becoming some day and someone would say why that dream was impossible.

We would probably go through this process, known as sharing and rejection, several times before we finally decided, either consciously or subconsciously, that we would not share our dreams again. In other cases we may have thought that maybe, just maybe, those people who caused us to doubt ourselves,  were right and we were wrong in having such outrageous dreams in the first place.

Imagine that something you were so sure of initially, over the years, became a faded memory. On some days you would sense a spark of a fame that used to burn bright; you’d feel it’s flicker as if it were trying to come alive again but you would squelch it before it became something that you would not even think of pursuing or dreaming about again. This is so unfortunate…

There are two people who are able to snuff out your dreams. Those two people are you and whoever else you decide to listen to. If you listen to others, I am sorry to say that in a lot of cases, you will probably hear a lot of ideas and thoughts that come from small minds. These small minds want to keep you from pursuing your dreams because, in some cases, they are not pursuing theirs. The other thing that one should remember is that your dreams are not theirs; they can’t possibly understand where you are coming from. So stop letting small people control your destiny and destroy the dreams that God gave you.

One of my favorite scriptures is this: "In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your ways…" (Proverbs 3:6).  If you put your attention on God and if you truly seek to hear from Him in every area of your life, there is no way that others will be able to affect, influence or depress you so easily. You won’t be twisted and turned with the thoughts and ideas of others. You will learn, sooner rather than later,  that they have no real interest in your successes in first place. You will not live an unfulfilled life because you are doing what others’ want versus what God wants.

You can live a positive, productive and purposeful life when you focus your attention on God and when you allow Him to lead you. When you follow someone else’s lead about your life, you may end up somewhere and you may end up no where. If you listen to what God says, where you end up is where you are suppose to be. You can trust that.

If you want to be successful and if you want to pursue what God has for you, listen to His voice; it’s the only one that matters. How do you find out what He has to say? Talk to Him daily, search the scriptures;  in them you will find what you need to live out your life of purpose and you will gain the confidence you need to drown out the chatter…
