P Power of Positive Faith

He May be Saying, "Wait."

Have you ever prayed and prayed for something but you did not see any results right away?  For years I prayed to be able to help heal others’ hearts through encouragement; I wanted to be able to speak to crowds and to influence how others see themselves. I have prayed for so many things that I forgot about because those prayers were never answered; or so I thought. Twenty, 30, 35 years later, I am just seeing some of those prayers I prayed showing up.

Many times we give up on our dreams out of frustration with our situation or with God because we think that He does not hear our prayers or we feel that He heard them but He does not care to answer them.  We think that what we want is so insignificant that we should not be bothering God with the requests anyway. We give up and pack our dreams away and start on another road where we “think” He wants us.

Many times I quote the scripture in Isaiah 55:8 where God says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.” The truth is we don’t know what God is thinking! And if we were honest with ourselves, we would agree that we may not be ready to take on such grandiose dreams. Just like leadership, generally the larger-than-life leaders did not become who they are overnight. They were nurtured and mentored through the years. They were given smaller roles and each time they learned how to lead at a certain level, they were probably given a little more responsibility and a little more and a little more, before they knew it, they were now leaders of big corporations, huge followings, or even leaders of powerful countries.  The point is, had they been given those greater levels of responsibility when they first dreamed about them, they would have probably failed miserably.

Just like those leaders that were nurtured, I believe God places us into various levels, positions and areas so that His perfect will can be worked out in us and for us. God refines us and makes us ready for our greater roles.

I have learned through many years of loving God that He very much cares about my dreams; He put them in my heart. Many times in my earlier years of life I thought that God was not interested in those secular kinds of things that I wanted; but He is. Am I disappointed when things I want to accomplish does not work out right away? Of course I am. Now days, I tend to snap out of being disappointed a lot quicker than I did in the past. I tell myself that maybe the time isn’t right.

So I want to encourage you, don’t give up when you don’t see your prayers being answered the way you want and when you want them to. God may not be saying “No” He might be saying “Not yet.”  And don’t be surprised when the things that you prayed for earlier in life begin to happen right now. Thank Him that He has prepared you and you are ready…
