GymMinistry

Since the very first thought that I had of opening my gym, it has been my prayer that my gym
would be a place where my clients would not only find that their needs would be met physically,
but spiritually, mentally, and emotionally as well. I have prayed that this endeavor would be my
"ministry". I have known that it was my calling. I have prayed that as clients come and give their
all physically, that God would minister to each client and that they would find that they were
experiencing more than a "workout". I have prayed that they would find hope, peace, answers,
confidence, strength, and much more. The following is a testimony of exactly that! My client,
Anna, expresses in her own words what she has experienced. What a powerful testimony of
God revealing Himself to her through fitness!

"When I first walked through the doors of Kellye Personal Fitness, I had one goal in mind; I
wanted to get in shape and tone. Little did I realize how much God was going to use fitness to
impact my spiritual life. I was practically born in church, so God's love was not a new concept to
me by any means, but God used KPF to teach me to view His love in a whole new light.

My first several weeks at Kellye's were pathetic. Y'all, I'm talking about horrendous. I didn't know
what a burpee was, much less how to do one! But I was so excited to learn and improve, and I
knew eventually I would get to the level of everyone else around me in the gym. I still had time. I
was still new. One night, we were doing bench presses and I was still on the baby bar, and my
roommate had worked up to the regular bar. I was humiliated and discouraged . We started at
the same time and I was falling behind. I wasn't good enough. I couldn't do it. I should be further
along. I wasn't motivated to try harder- I wanted to quit and give up completely. Next week, Gary
(one of Kellye's trainers) had me try the regular bar with no weights. I could only lift it around 3
times, and it was TOUGH. But I did it! Then every one of the trainers at the gym acted like it was
the biggest accomplishment that had taken place in the gym! I couldn't believe the level of
support and encouragement I received over something as simple as lifting a bar with NO
weights! When I drove home that night, God used this simple event to speak a truth to me that
I've heard my whole life but never fully grasped. I always viewed God's love as critical and when
I didn't do my best I was discouraged and I wanted to quit, but He doesn't judge me based on
what everyone else around me is accomplishing. He doesn't judge me if I fall. He only cares that
I'm doing MY best and working my hardest to pick myself up and try again and again. Struggling
on and pressing through is what counts, even though my personal situation might be as "small
as the bar" compared to others. It doesn't matter! He is celebrating with me, and He loves me!
Not to say that this is always an easy task! I have been challenged, I have been pushed, and I
have had off days, but I have never received anything other than motivation, love and
encouragement from this gym. The trainers are wanting me to succeed. God is no different.

When I returned from time off due to a broken ankle, I was met with welcomed hugs and
encouragement as soon as I walked in the door. God is always after me to return to Him. He is
not critical or judging. He is excited and eager to get back to work.

I never knew a gym could totally change the way I view God's love. It has changed the way I
view my burdens, how I compare myself to others, and to see how God challenges me to be
more and do more than I ever thought I'd be able to accomplish. Every time I walk(or
sometimes crawl!) out of the gym I'm blessed and encouraged. As a teacher, I now take this
new view of God and share it with my students every day! I teach them that God doesn't
compare your best to other people's best, and He doesn't shame us when we fail. When we
accomplish the smallest victory, He is celebrating with us. Hopefully, these little hearts that I
teach are receiving the same message I receive every time I walk out of KPF's doors.
God used KPF, not only to improve my physical health, but to show me that it doesn't matter
what obstacles I'm facing. He only wanted me to give it all I have- no matter how small!"
